Diversity Inclusion facilitates Anglo American WoMine Roadshow
Anglo American recently launched ‘WoMine’, a women’s network aimed to support and empower women in the organisation’s Queensland mining operations, to achieve their potential, develop their networks, and influence change.
Diversity Inclusion was invited to address WoMine members at a roadshow that travelled across Anglo American mining operations in Middlemount, Moura and Moranbah, and also to their corporate office in Brisbane. The roadshow was delivered in October and November 2022 and attracted over 150 women across a range of disciplines, who participated in interactive career development sessions facilitated by Diversity Inclusion’s, Tara Chandrasekhar.
Tara leveraged Harvey Coleman’s ‘Performance-Exposure-Impact’ model to support participants in considering the elements that most influence career success, with a particular focus on creating an impact. Discussions and activities centred around identifying the mindsets, behaviours and capabilities that help individuals to create a positive impact. The groups were introduced to the benefits of nurturing core skills such as using a growth mindset to showcase their authentic selves, instead of unduly worrying about impression management.
Participants shared feedback on how they found great value in their session with Tara, and the usefulness of opportunities for women to come together at events like this roadshow to gain inspiration, re-centre on their personal development, and expand their circle of influence.
Tara’s own values include ‘curiosity’ and ‘learning’, and so she particularly enjoyed the opportunity to meet and interact with a diverse group of women across Anglo American operations, and experience some interesting driving and weather adventures in the scenic highlands of Central Queensland!
